Beyond banned books: intellectual Freedom in school libraries
Join us for a pre-conference workshop with Joyce McIntosh from ALA’s Office of Intellectual Freedom and go beyond banned books. This three-hour workshop will help you understand what first amendment rights look like in school libraries, how to work with your school administrators, and give you a chance to work with other school librarians on real issues happening in Pennsylvania. School librarians and library advocates alike will be able to leverage support and gain confidence to do the important work of fighting for intellectual freedom in libraries. Every attendee will receive a one-year membership to the Freedom to Read Foundation. Read more about FTRF and its benefits here-https://www.ftrf.org/page/About.
This project is made possible in part by Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, Governor.
